Thank you for your interest in Bright Smile Dentistry. I'm Dr. George Makar, the owner and treating dentist, and I've been providing kind, gentle, patient care for more than 15 years.
I graduated with honors from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston — one of the best dental schools in the country — and furthered my training in cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, root canals, orthodontics, and dentures. My background includes the US Coast Guard and the LA County Forensics team, and I'm a proud member of the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association. Because I love working with kids, I provide free dental screenings at local schools and teach children proper oral hygiene.
My passion is creating beautiful smiles. But I know the two most common reasons people put off dental care are fear of pain and the cost. So I built this practice to address both.
The more you understand, the less there is to fear. I take the time to educate every patient on the cause, risks, benefits, and alternatives for each treatment, and I explain each step as we go. I use an intra-oral camera to show you decay, fractures, and stains on-screen — because no verbal explanation compares to seeing it yourself. And we use low-radiation digital X-rays for clear, instant images. The office itself is designed to feel un-intimidating: movies playing, soft music, and a pace that never feels rushed.
To make treatment affordable, I created an in-house dental health plan for patients without insurance — or whose insurance offers minimal coverage. It's less than $7 a month per person, with free exams, X-rays, and cleanings, and no claim forms, deductibles, or waiting periods.
